Welch  High King and Queen of May and Attendants

King Billy Bridges and Queen Ellen Jewell are shown on their thrones during the first annual May festival at Welch high school last Friday night.
Attendants, crowners and crown bearers are with them.  Left to right are  Bernice Waldron, crown bearer; Eloise Hardin, crowner; Virginia Taylor, court attendant; the Queen and King; Tony Battlo, court attendant; John Borosky, crowner, and Joe Perry, crown bearer.

The first May Court was selected from members of  the classes of 1945 and 1946. This resulted in a mix of members from both classes.  King Billy Bridges was in the class of  '46 and  Queen Ellen Jewell was in the class of  '45.    The following year the selection for the court members was limited to seniors.
